LAS VEGAS – In what is set to be one of the most highly anticipated NBA Summer League games this month, Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans are set to face off against RJ Barrett and the New York Knicks on Friday, July 5 at 9:30 p.m. ET.

Both former Duke superstars and 2020 NBA Rookie of the Year hopefuls will be on full display at UNLV. As of now, Williamson is favored to win the 2020 NBA Rookie of the Year award at (-155) betting odds by popular online sportsbook Bovada. Barrett sits two spots behind at (+450) betting odds.

Only two days after the NBA Draft, Barrett traveled to Santa Monica in order to present the 2019 Rookie of the Year Award.

Containing Williamson is much easier said than done. While at Duke, Williamson averaged 22.6 points and 8.9 rebounds a game. Many of those points came from hard-fought possessions in the paint.

However, RJ Barrett averaged the same amount of points while at Duke. Barrett took a different approach to achieve that number, scoring many points from beyond the arc.

Williamson put their matchup into perspective following the Pelicans final summer practice on Thursday.

“Obviously, it's going to be exciting to be playing against my brother, but I really can’t go into the game thinking of it like that because we’re two different positions,” said Williamson. “So, the only way we’ll be matched up is if it’s a switch or something.”

Their collegiate roles will be much of the same in the NBA, but their supporting cast and the stakes will be much higher. The Pelicans traded away all-star Anthony Davis earlier this summer, and the Knicks missed their chance to sign free-agent Kevin Durant earlier this month.

How Yankees, Mets Trade Rumors Affect 2019 World Series Odds

According to a report from Andy Martino of SNY, the Mets would be open to the trade.

“If the Yanks make the strongest offer for Zach Wheeler, the Mets would have no issues sending him across town, according to major league sources… word around Citi Field is that Brodie Van Wagenen has the go-ahead to accept the best offer. If it comes from the Yankees, so be it.”

The Yankees are currently sitting at the top of the AL East with a record of 54-29. They are also currently favored to win the 2019 World Series at (+320) betting odds by popular online bookmaker Bovada. They trail only the Los Angeles Dodgers in terms of those odds.

Any trade from the Mets to the Yankees may anger some Mets fans, especially when the Yankees already seem to have the ball rolling this season. The two teams have only made 15 deals since 1966 with the last big-league trade coming in 2004.

To add to the Yankee's appeal in Wheeler, he is only on a $5.975 million salary that they could surely afford. But what would they be getting for the price?

Wheeler is currently running an ERA of 4.42, but that number is a bit misleading due to the fact that the Mets defense as a whole has been a bit lackluster this season. Other stats give a bit of a clearer picture into his individual output.

Wheeler has struck out 9.71 batters per nine while at the same time walking 2.53. This gives him a relatively impressive K/BB ratio of 3.71.

Governor Cuomo Gives Hope For Mobile Sports Betting In New York To Pass Through Legislature Next Month

New York sports betting bill NY S 17 would legalize mobile sports betting by housing servers in the state’s four approved upstate casinos.
Governor Cuomo has previously expressed that mobile sports wagering in New York would need to be approved via voter referendum.
The bill is currently sitting in the Senate Finance Committee.

ALBANY, N.Y. - With only two weeks left in the state’s legislative session, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo gave hope for mobile sports betting supporters. Earlier this week, in an interview with WAMC radio host Alan Chartock, Cuomo spoke in regards to a bill passing this year.

“It’s possible,” Cuomo said. “I think the time is short and the list is long, so I would counsel the legislative leaders to get the priorities done, because these priorities are not easy.”

The changed stance comes after months of constitutional concerns from the governor’s office and after mobile sports betting was left off of the state’s budget.

“That’s a light at the other end of the tunnel and there doesn’t seem to be an oncoming train anymore”, said Assemblyman Gary Pretlow.

The best chance for a mobile sports betting bill to pass now will have to come through NY S 17. The Senate bill is sponsored by Senator Joseph Addabbo. The contents of the bill are the same as NY A 6113 which is sponsored by Assemblyman Gary Pretlow.

The bill would allow for mobile sports betting in New York to be available statewide by leveraging the four upstate casinos that were previously approved by voters for retail on sportsbooks in the USA.

The servers that are used for mobile sports wagering apps would be housed inside the casinos. This is similar to how mobile betting works at New York Association horse racing tracks. Mobile bettors would first need to go to the casinos to register in person before they can bet on sports in NY remotely.

NY S 17 passed through the New York Senate Racing, Gaming, and Wagering Committee by a unanimous vote on May 13, 2019. The bill has been sitting in the Senate Finance Committee since then.

Although, even with the governor’s most recent comments, representatives from his office have insisted on the views they’ve had on the subject all year.

“Our position on constitutional concerns has not changed,” said Rich Azzopardi. “But, we remain in discussions with the Legislature.”

New York Yankees Betting Odds May Get Boost From Injured Players Returning

New York Yankees currently sit on top of the AL East
James Paxton, Didi Gregorius, and Dellin Betances are all likely to return to the Yankees line up soon, according to the team’s manager.

New York – After a slow start to the 2019 MLB season, the New York Yankees now find themselves on top of the AL East and poised to make some noise later in the season. This will be especially true when some of their key players return to the lineup.

Yankees manager, Aaron Boone recently gave updates on behalf of Dellin Betances, James Paxton, and Didi Gregorius, two of which have been out all season with an injury.

Earlier this week, Betances was able to throw 25 fastballs from the mound in bullpen session prior to the Yankees 5-2 victory over the Padres.

“I actually saw when he was doing his exercise out of the training room and I think he was really encouraged by how he felt,” said Boone.

Betances has been out all season due to inflammation in his right shoulder and was previously shut down by the team. But, the recent session has encouraged the team to believe he could possibly make a return in June.

When it comes to Paxton, it seems that his timeline for return could come sooner. The left-handed pitcher was able to throw 55 pitches in a simulated game last Friday in the team’s Tampa training complex.

Paxton, who has been out since May 4, 2019, due to inflammation around his MCL, will wear a knee brace once he returns to New York this week. “Hoping that he’s in line now to join the rotation,” said Boone.

Gregarious seems to be getting back into the rhythm as well after missing all season from Tommy John surgery. He is expected to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre early this week and stay for only a week before he makes his return.
