Both the Browns and the New York Jets are 0-1 to begin the season.

The Jets are 1-10 straight up in their last 11 games played.

NEW YORK – Can the Cleveland Browns beat the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium for Monday Night Football? The Jets will be playing without their star quarterback, Sam Darnold who could be out for up to a month with mono. Taking his place will be 27-year old quarterback Trevor Siemian, who has started 24 games, winning 13 of them.

“He’s not a panic guy, he’s got a coolness about him and when things change at that position sometimes other guys can panic a little,” said Jets’ head coach Adam Gase. “But when you have a guy that is really calm and steady, then that calms everybody else down.”

Siemian didn’t see any playing action all of last season so he has been a bit out of practice when it comes to live gameplay. Along with Darnold, the Jets are also out a linebacker in C.J. Mosely, who has a groin injury. Both teams had bad starts to the season, with the Browns losing to the Tennessee Titans 43-13 and the Jets giving up their lead to the Buffalo Bills, losing 17-16.

Despite the ending score, the Browns played well from a defensive standpoint against the Titans. They were able to hold Tennessee when it came to third downs, only allowing them to advance two out of ten times. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, 26, will be making his return to New York, but in a different jersey. OBJ has a kind of magic when it comes to Monday night football. In his last five years in the league, he has had 51 completed catches for 755 yards with a total of seven touchdowns, all during Monday night football games.

With all of New York’s injuries and the Browns' poor performance during their season debut, the odds within a possession between the teams. The Browns have a spread set at (-7, -115) while the Jets are coming into the game with a line of (+7, -105). Moneyline wagers are favoring Cleveland with odds of -300 and the underdog Jets sit at +250. For the point total, the oddsmakers at sportsbooks for New Yorkers looked to adjust the line, but it remains similar to where it opened at 45 points. The game starts at 8:15 p.m. EST and will be aired on the ESPN network.

NEW YORK – The Buffalo Bills will be playing their first game of the preseason against the Indianapolis Colts at home. Sean McDermott, head coach of the Bills is ready to see his team in action. He’s stated that he is dedicating one-quarter of tonight’s game to his starting players. The remainder of the game will be played by those seeking a starting position when the regular season begins.

The Bills

Quarterback Josh Allen will be leading the offensive line tonight but there are some serious questions as to who else will be playing. Guards Spencer Long and Jon Feliciano, as well as center Mitch Morse, are all out of commission with injuries. Rookie offensive tackle Cody Ford will be playing guard on the field and depending on his performance, may be moving to that position permanently.

“All we can do is evaluate the combinations that are out there,” said McDermott “We can’t evaluate the combinations that aren’t out there because those are hypothetical at this point and that’s not healthy.”

Rookie defensive tackle Ed Oliver, 21, earned his stripes during camp and landed a spot in the starting position against the Colts. Tight end Lee Smith will be starting with newbie Tommy Sweeney as Tyler Kroft, Jason Croom, and Dawson Knox are all benched with injuries. Should the Bills need a third tight end tonight, they also have rookie Nate Becker who showed promise in camp practices. Becker is thought to be seen as a possible sleeper by the time the season starts.

Wide receiver Robert Foster will be starting tonight. The way he plays will determine whether or not he will have a starting position in the future. He did not have the greatest showing this past summer. The longer he’s in the game today will show if he first string material or not.

The Colts

With so many players out with injuries including their quarterback Andrew Luck, SportsBettingNewYork.com knows the Colts field of players will be a sea of new faces. Leading the team tonight is quarterback Jacoby Brissett, 26. Brissett needs to showcase his skills tonight as well as in the entire preseason because he will be a free agent when the season is over. Luck’s calf injury is expected to be healed by the time the regular season begins so this could be Brissett’s only shot to show the NFL what he’s got.

Offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni expects to see what Brissett has shown throughout camp tonight.

“Just the same thing he’s been bringing every day,’’ said Sirianni. “Just the execution of the play, the understanding of the play, getting us into the right protection call, finding the open guy, getting us into the right run-check if we have a run-check on.’’

Star tight end Chris Herndon has been suspended until October.

Herndon pleaded guilty to a DWI in January of this year.

The Jets season starts on September 8th where they will play the Buffalo Bills.

NEW YORK – Tight end Chris Herndon, 23, has been suspended for four games due to an incident that occurred in June 2018. Herndon was charged with a DWI and pleaded guilty in January 2019 after a woman involved in the accident claimed injury. These legal troubles have put him in direct violation of NFL policies and programs on the abuse of substances.

Herndon will not be able to play until October 7th. The Jets do not have much talent in the form of a replacement for Herndon through the four games that he will be missing. During his NFL debut last season, Herndon went 502 yards with 39 receptions and 4 touchdowns.

"He's a unicorn type of player, you don't see a lot of these players that can do all three phases of the game. Chris is unique," Jets Coach Adam Gase said at the NFL Combine workouts in Indianapolis. "I don't think you'll find a lot of tight ends that are able to be on the field all three downs. Obviously, he's a very good receiver, he's very good in the run game, and he did a really good job in pass protection last year.”

What Will The Jets Do In Herndon’s Absence?

Quarterback Sam Darnold has built up terrific chemistry with Herndon last season which only got stronger during the offseason. Until he can return to the field in October, it looks as though the New York Jets will try not to make any heavy plays in the tight end position. They have newly acquired Trevon Wesco from West Virginia in the fourth round of the NFL draft but whether or not Wesco will be used as a tight end or a fullback remains to be seen.

The other two tight ends on the roster are Daniel Brown and Eric Tomlinson. Brown had zero receptions last season and Tomlinson went 72 yards last season with a total of 8 receptions. SportsBettingNewYork.com understands the Jets are going to have to improvise until October when their star tight end can resume playing. Although he has been suspended for four games, Herndon has been allowed to participate in team practices and camps.

The first game for the New York Jets is set for September 8th at 1:00 pm ET against the Buffalo Bills. The game will be aired on the CBS network. The Jets are the favorite to win with odds of -170 while the Bills have been given odds of +150.

Yes: +325

No: -450

The Bills made the playoffs two seasons ago, breaking a nearly 20-year drought. In the 1990s, Buffalo went on a run, making the playoffs in 8 times. There is potential for this current squad to match that production, especially with the likes of Josh Allen.

Allen comes into his second NFL season after proving he can get it done on the ground as well as through the air. He finished with a team-high in rushing touchdowns, rushing yards, and (removing 1 rush for 9 yards from Patrick DiMarco), average yards per rush.

However, with the addition of TJ Yeldon and Frank Gore amongst veteran LeSean McCoy, Allen will likely see a step back in rushing production this year. Still, he remains the only Bills player aside from “LeShady”, on the odds board shown to lead the league in rushing touchdowns (+5000) at the end of the year.

Betting on McCoy to have a league-leading rushing season is questionable at best, as he has only played a full season once in the last four years. But McCoy has six seasons (of ten) rushing for 1000+ yards, so anything is possible.

Who Will Win The AFC East?

Bills: +1000

Buffalo comes in as the third-favorite in the division to take the title. The New England Patriots are the clear leader amongst the AFC East teams, having won the previous 10 titles. But with another year under Tom Brady’s belt and the retirement of Rob Gronkowski, the Pats aren’t as deadly as years’ past.

The Bills will still need to find a way to win, as they are 73-43-1 against the Patriots all-time, including an 0-5 record in the last few meetings.

The New York Jets are second to win the division but hired a coach in Adam Gase who has a career losing record. His sole playoff appearance came in his first season with the Miami Dolphins but led his team to a diminishing record both years after.

The Bills do hold the all-time lead over the Jets, sitting with a 62-55 record but spent the majority of the 2010s splitting the regular season victories.

As for the Dolphins, we’ll just leave this fun fact: they are last in the league (odds-wise) to make the playoffs this year.

How Many Games Will The Buffalo Bills Win?

Over 6.5: -170

Under 6.5: +140

Oddsmakers have set the season mark for the Buffalo Bills rather low and the bettors are clearly showing that the over is favorited.

Though the Bills would have missed this mark last year (finished with 6 wins), the first year under coach Sean McDermott would have made the cut (with 9 wins).

With one more year under center, SportsBettingNewYork.com thinks Josh Allen should find much more comfort in McDermott’s system, leading the team to 7 or more victories.

Despite going through 10 coaches over the past 20 seasons, the Bills have won 7 or more games in more than half of those instances (11). However, their six seasons with 6 wins (in the same time span) might leave bettors slightly nervous on taking the over.

To help ease the tension, looking at more recent production in Buffalo should leave bettors feeling slightly more confident, as the Bills have won 7 or more games in all of the last five seasons except last year.

Fantasy football season 2019 is right around the corner and the research for the best players begins now.

New York has a few good players to keep an eye on during Draft Day for your team.

The first Pre-Season NFL game is less than a month away.

NEW YORK- July holds a special meaning to all the fantasy football players out there; it’s time to start preparing your picks for the upcoming NFL season. Everyone is looking to pick the best players for their team, much like actual football, but to do that requires a lot of research. First, you’ll need a breakdown of team positions to fill and then you’ll need to go over the previous season’s statistics on each player before deciding who you want for your team. Even then, you might not be able to obtain them on Draft Day. Fantasy football is a very serious business.

New York Jets

If you’re looking to fill the position of wide receiver, look no further than Jamison Crowder. Crowder, 26, was signed to a three- year deal with the New York Jets in 2019. In the 2018 football season, he had 388 receiving yards for 29 receptions and scored two touchdowns for the Washington Redskins.

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is in his second year with the team. He and Crowder both have the skill set to develop a chemistry that could break out into some major gains for the fantasy football league and the players themselves. Jamison Crowder is the sleeper pick for the Jets this season.

Buffalo Bills

Wide receiver Cole Beasley of the Buffalo Bills is another player worth looking into. The 30-year-old from the Dallas Cowboys signed a deal with the Buffalo Bills for four years. Beasley went for 672 yards and 65 receptions in his last season with the Cowboys.

Like Crowder, Beasley is new to his franchise and is also working with a quarterback that will be entering his second season with the Buffalo Bills, Josh Allen. Beasley could play a pivotal role in the season based on his 2018 statistics, having plenty of points per reception in a six-game span. He is definitely a player worth looking into for your league.

New York Giants

Last but not least, there is the New York Giants. The best player to pick for the Giants this season is none other than running back Saquon Barkley, 22. His statistics speak for themselves. Dubbed “The Supreme Deity of Thighs” he is sure to be this year’s fantasy Zeus according to Yahoo Fantasy Analysts.

There is a lot riding on Barkley when it comes to helping the New York Giants this season. Last year he set the record for touchdowns made by rookies in one season for the team with thirteen of them. This offensive Rookie of the Year is only getting better and is definitely a player you’d want on your team.

No matter who you end up choosing for your fantasy football league, these players are up there on the list of picks. SportsBettingNewYork.com wants to make sure you’re ready for some craziness this NFL season. The best time of year is almost here!
