The Jets are 1-10 straight up in their last 11 games played.

NEW YORK – Can the Cleveland Browns beat the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium for Monday Night Football? The Jets will be playing without their star quarterback, Sam Darnold who could be out for up to a month with mono. Taking his place will be 27-year old quarterback Trevor Siemian, who has started 24 games, winning 13 of them.

“He’s not a panic guy, he’s got a coolness about him and when things change at that position sometimes other guys can panic a little,” said Jets’ head coach Adam Gase. “But when you have a guy that is really calm and steady, then that calms everybody else down.”

Siemian didn’t see any playing action all of last season so he has been a bit out of practice when it comes to live gameplay. Along with Darnold, the Jets are also out a linebacker in C.J. Mosely, who has a groin injury. Both teams had bad starts to the season, with the Browns losing to the Tennessee Titans 43-13 and the Jets giving up their lead to the Buffalo Bills, losing 17-16.

Despite the ending score, the Browns played well from a defensive standpoint against the Titans. They were able to hold Tennessee when it came to third downs, only allowing them to advance two out of ten times. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, 26, will be making his return to New York, but in a different jersey. OBJ has a kind of magic when it comes to Monday night football. In his last five years in the league, he has had 51 completed catches for 755 yards with a total of seven touchdowns, all during Monday night football games.

With all of New York’s injuries and the Browns' poor performance during their season debut, the odds within a possession between the teams. The Browns have a spread set at (-7, -115) while the Jets are coming into the game with a line of (+7, -105). Moneyline wagers are favoring Cleveland with odds of -300 and the underdog Jets sit at +250. For the point total, the oddsmakers at sportsbooks for New Yorkers looked to adjust the line, but it remains similar to where it opened at 45 points. The game starts at 8:15 p.m. EST and will be aired on the ESPN network.

NEW YORK – The New York Jets and the New York Giants will go helmet to helmet for their first preseason game on August 8th at MetLife Stadium. These two teams are rivalry teams for football fans like the New York Mets and New York Yankees are for fans of baseball. Both teams have a lot to prove this season.

The New York Jets

The New York Jets have undergone a coaching staff makeover and they have Adam Gase as their new head coach. Sam Darnold, 22, will be taking the lead in the quarterback position. Darnold has shown to be doing great work with the team during camp. Running back Le’Veon Bell, 27, missed the 2018 season due to not wanting to participate in a franchise tag with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He signed a 4-year contract with the Jets in 2019 worth over $52 million. The last time he played professional football he rushed almost 1,300 yards and had 9 touchdowns in 2017. Darnell and Bell will be seen on the field for the Giants game. Both members of the offense and defense will be vying for starting positions during the regular season.

Last season the Jets had an average of 20.8 points for each game. They gave up 27.6 points per game to their opponents. They went 4-12 for the season. The New York Jets have +8000 odds of winning the Super Bowl

The New York Giants

The New York Giants have not had stability in their performance since their Super Bowl win in 2011. Head coach Pat Shurmur will be entering his second season as head coach. This season will be about showing the fans they can count on the Giants to do better. The Giants have beaten the Jets 5 out of the last 6 games they’ve played against each other.

Veteran quarterback Eli Manning will be throwing for the Giants. However, they have rookie quarterback Daniel Jones ready to go if Manning shows any signs of not playing well. A lot will be put in the hands of star running back Saquon Barkley who has shown he can do anything on the field.

The Giants allowed teams to score an average of 25.8 points each game last season. They managed an average of 23.1 points scored per game in 2018. The team had a record of 5-11 last year. They have +8000 odds to win the Super Bowl.

The game on August 8th is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET. The NFL Network will be airing the event. The New York Jets are favored to win at New York sports betting sites with odds of -125 while the New York Giants have odds of +105. Preseason or not, this is definitely going to be a rivalry game worth watching.

Currently, the Giants are underdogs in 12 of 16 contests.

The Giants’ Week 6 matchup against the Patriots offers the season’s best payout (+390).

NEW YORK – If you’re a New York Giants fan and don’t have a betting account at FanDuel, you’re missing out. Right now, several months before the NFL season even kicks off, FanDuel has odds up for every single Giants game on the schedule.

For sportsbooks, that kind of lead time is unprecedented. At most books (both onshore and off), you can currently find odds on games for Week 1 of the upcoming campaign, but that’s it.

At FanDuel, you can wager on spreads and straights for all 16 Giants contests in the regular season.

This makes sense, of course. FanDuel is the in-house bookmaker at The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ. This is the same complex that houses MetLife Stadium, where the G-Men play their home games.

Of course, the Jets play their home games at MetLife, too, and they aren’t getting the same front-and-center treatment on the odds boards. This shows that despite both teams calling The Big M home, the Giants are leaps and bounds more popular in the region.

While the Giants aren’t expected to compete for a division title (+1000), conference crown (+3400), or NFL championship (+7000) this year, their individual regular season matchups have some moneymaking opportunities for the savvy bettor.

Straight up, the Giants are currently underdogs in 12 of their 16 scheduled games. The biggest potential payouts on the board can be found in Week 1 against the Cowboys (+250), Week 6 against the Patriots (+390), Week 11 against the Bears (+270), and Week 13 against the Eagles (+300).

On the other side, as favorites, the Giants are currently trending most strongly in Week 7 against the Cardinals (-210) and Week 14 against the Dolphins (-235).

It’s important to note that at this early stage, all of FanDuel’s Giant spreads have reasonable prices of between +100 (even) and -115, with most settling in at the industry standard -110.

If the outlandishly high juice attached to Giants games at the FanDuel sportsbook last season is any indication, these odds are likely to get a whole lot worse once the season actually gets underway.

Additionally, there is no word as to whether or not these odds will stay posted once the season starts, as this could be a promotional move to keep bettor interest high in the lead-up to the 2019-2020 campaign.

As always, if you see a line you like, SportsBettingNewYork.com says take it now, because it could be gone tomorrow.
